Forgetful....

This week we have been working each night to
get the garden ready and Tuesday was no different.
The only difference would be my forgetfulness....

Tony planted the beans.....

My job was to water the plants.....

I got a little bored with watering and decided
 to take a few pictures....

Deciding that I was slacking on my watering job,
I set the camera on the corner of the Chevy's bumper.
When I set it there, I thought to myself this is not a good spot for your camera.
I should have listened to that little inner voice....

The thought of the camera sitting on the bumper
quickly left my brain.....

It decided to rain Tuesday evening
and throughout the day on Wednesday.
My camera was getting a shower....

Wednesday when Tony got home from work he walked
by the Chevy's bumper....

and there sat my camera, on the bumper, exactly where I left it!
I think he was afraid to tell me....

I removed the battery and the camera card.
How could I have forgotten about my camera...
Dried all the parts and let it sit over night.
I may have said a little prayer for my camera...

In the morning I gave it a test run and it works perfect!
I still cannot believe it works!

The last six pictures are post the rain shower.
One would never have know the camera took a shower,
although I will never forget again!

Preparing for the summer....

Warm weather makes me smile! This is my favorite time of the year...
watching the landscape come back to life after a very long winter.
Last year we used 11 truck beds (40 yards) of mulch to get
the house ready for summer....

Busy day here at the little homestead...

Cucumbers and cantaloupe

Snap-peas, bush beans, Kentucky pole beans, celery, and egg plant

Zucchini, yellow squash, and patty pan

Getting the garden ready has a been a slow process.
It felt like forever for the snow to melt and spring to begin!

The strawberry plants are starting to bloom! 21 of our plants made it through the winter and thanks to our friends we added 9 more to complete the row! There is nothing better than fresh sun kissed strawberries! Another favorite is homemade strawberry jam!

Tony added fresh compose to the garden today and starting to prepare the soil for his cucumber and cantaloupe. Last year Tony canned enough pickles to get us through the winter!

Three rows of carrots, one row of broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts.

Asparagus is growing in the far corner....love fresh asparagus! The oregano are starting to look like small bushes and need a haircut! Tony plans to plant his tomatoes and peppers in this corner of the garden. We hope to can tomato sauce and salsa this year.

The sun is starting to set and I was trying to get a picture......

and someone thought it was fun to photo bomb the picture....

Gosh...
how I would love to have this much energy!
