Just wondering.....

Thought I would get your opinion today...
because I was just wondering....
What if....
You found a smaller home than you lived in now...
What if...
it had great character?

What if...
it needed lots of work?

What if...
you could make it your own?

What if...
it full fills a dream?

What if...
the rooms are small?

What if...
your girls would need to be room mates?

What if...
you see its potential and not what it is right now?

What if..
You love it's imperfections?

What if..
it has space to grow?

What if..
it has a pond?

What if...
the world will think you are crazy?

Just wondering...
What if?

I had a very similar opportunity a while back and now wish I had gone for it. It was all of the above, but I could just see myself in that kitchen in all the little details, and since it is just me and my husband it would have been a great opportunity to downsize. Jackie

Wendy these house is so beautiful I want to scream!! I would buy this house in a flash... but not my hubby. He likes a house where he won't bump into the walls. Those pictures are like a dream. Thanks for sharing :)

We were asking ourselves similar questions earlier this week. It would just make the list longer of all the things I admire about you and Tony!

So many what ifs.....I love the character of older homes....do not think I would want to do all the work though. Our home is new...however, we like the rustic look, and do not fret over things like scratches on the floor..I say things like that build character. If we where younger perhaps and could really do a lot ourselves....I would not mind an older home with history and character...it is all what you make it. Nice pics Wendy.

you know we've been asking the same questions. Except in our case the house and place are not going to be anywhere near fulfilling a dream. That alone would do it for me. Sharing a room? Not an issue at all. They'll learn consideration and compromise and make sisterly late-night memories that never would have happened otherwise. I've been pondering why exactly families today need so much more space than our grandparents did (our wonderful grandparents who had more work ethic, character, and love in their small homes than many families do today) I WILL however need a huge pantry and dish closet! :)

There's a lot of other factors, but if the biggest issue was the size - I would jump on it. I love being a little cozy with my loved ones. My husband and I also love pushing up our sleeves and working together. It sounds charming.

Wendy,
Once again, I stand amazed at just how similar we are. It brings tears to my eyes, just like an answer to prayer... to find someone who "dreams", "thinks", and as importantly experiences life on the same "emotional" level I do. I'm so glad we have found this friendship thru blog land!
This post echo's one that has been floating in my head for over a year now. Except the house we've found is a total gut job, but the bones... wow the bones keep calling my name!
So if you Tony and the kids are are the same page... Jump together and go for it!
Have a excellent dreamy day!

Forget the what ifs and jump right in with both feet. Sounds like a journey meant for you . . .

I would buy it. Sounds like perfection. Especially when others think you are crazy.

And, we've totally been there. ;)

I shared a room with my sister, love her dearly to this day, and would not trade those years for anything in the world. But you may already know that.

Continue to dream and pray, just like you do, and I know you will get there. The question is what are we going to do when you do???? :)
